My 5-Minute, No-Filter Summer Makeup Routine (I’m 53 — Be Kind)

Let’s start with the obvious: this post has zero filter on it. I’m 53, I’m posting my real face, and I’m asking you to be kind about it — mostly because I’m still working on being kind to myself about it too.

But here’s what I actually want to talk about: the products. Because this simple, summer-ready, minimal makeup look takes me about five minutes, start to finish, and I genuinely love every single thing on this list.

If you want a low-effort, high-payoff routine for warmer months — one that looks like you, just a little more awake — here’s exactly what’s in my rotation.

The Products

CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen, Medium Sheer Tint This is where the routine starts and honestly, where most of the work gets done. It gives light, sheer coverage while doing the actual job of protecting my skin — and it leaves a natural glow instead of sitting flat or chalky. One product, two jobs.

Nars Orgasm A cult classic for a reason. If you’ve never tried it, this is your sign. It gives my cheeks a sun-kissed flush that looks like I spent the afternoon outside, not like I applied a product.

Tarte Platinum Lights Camera Lashes I don’t have lash extensions, and this mascara is the reason I don’t feel like I need them. It makes my lashes look full and long without any clumping or drama.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Under Eye Setting Powder in Soft Pink This one just works. It brightens tired-looking under-eyes and sets everything in place so the rest of the look holds. Simple, but it earns its spot every time.

Revlon Super Lustrous The Gloss in Blissed Out A lovely, summery, peachy shade that isn’t sticky and isn’t overly shiny — it’s just right. The kind of gloss you can put on and forget about.

Morphe Eyeshadow For a soft, lined-eye look without overthinking it. Morphe’s basic shades are solid, reliable, everyday colors — no guesswork required.

The Takeaway

Five minutes. Six products. A face that still looks like mine, just a little brighter and more finished. That’s the whole philosophy behind this routine — and honestly, behind a lot of how I’m approaching beauty in this stage of life. Less about hiding, more about a little enhancement and a lot of ease.

Links to everything are here. If you try any of these, I’d love to hear what you think.
